Smart Approach­es to Mar­i­jua­na was here today and I got into a lit­tle argu­ment with Kevin Sabet near the end of the pre­sen­ta­tion. Here’s the audio.

Dr. Chris­t­ian Thur­stone, M.D. from Col­orado spoke first. He said the mar­i­jua­na indus­try explod­ed in Col­orado in 2009, but he did­n’t explain why. A mem­ber of the audi­ence asked him to explain why, but he still did­n’t explain it. So, I asked him if it was because of the Oba­ma Admin­is­tra­tion’s “Ogden Memo” in Octo­ber of 2009. Dr. Kevin Sabet, Ph.D., stood up, looked at me, and said, “That’s exact­ly right!” Then, Dr. Thur­stone said the Col­orado courts had decid­ed a case around that time that care­givers were not lim­it­ed to just one patient. So, it was the com­bi­na­tion of those two events that caused the explo­sion.
