Urbandale Legislative Forum

I attended the legislative forum on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce. The event was well-attended and two medical cannabis advocates spoke out at the forum, Connie Norgart and Craig Miller, asking for production of cannabis in Iowa and expanding the list of conditions for which it can be used. My Plan

People are always asking me what my plan is, so I’m going to try to explain. I made my plan in 2006, shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Gonzales v. Oregon, 546 U.S. 243 (2006). In Gonzales v. Oregon, the U.S. Supreme Court found that states make most of the medical decision under My Plan

Scholars do not understand federalism

On Friday, a panel at the Brookings Institute took on the issue of international drug law. http://www.brookings.edu/events/2014/10/17-international-impacts-legal-marijuana As you could have easily predicted, the analysis was shallow. Why would we even be talking about this if anyone understood it? What the panelists did do well was to explain the role and the history of the Scholars do not understand federalism

Cannabis Oil in Iowa

Medical marijuana has finally made its legal entrance into Iowa’s culture with the legalization of cannabis oil on July 1, 2014 (Iowa Medical Cannabidiol Act of 2014). In response, a new business venture here in Iowa has shown an interest in supplying this product, iCann: Reasonable Cannabis Solutions in Urbandale, Iowa. I talked briefly with Cannabis Oil in Iowa

Judge rules against medical marijuana activist in lawsuit against pharmacy board

The Des Moines Register carried a blog article about the court ruling against me in my lawsuit against the Iowa Board of Pharmacy. The article was fairly accurate. The only real error in the article, and it runs consistently throughout the history of this entire project started in 2006, is that everyone keeps paraphrasing the Judge rules against medical marijuana activist in lawsuit against pharmacy board

Smart Approaches to Marijuana — November 14, 2013

Smart Approaches to Marijuana was here today and I got into a little argument with Kevin Sabet near the end of the presentation. Here’s the audio. Washington Congressional Delegation to Eric Holder — Please violate federal law with us

On June 17, 2013, seven Democrats from the state of Washington’s Congressional Delegation wrote a letter to the chief law enforcement officer in the United States asking him not to enforce federal law. You can read that letter here: Washington-Congressional-Delegation-to-Eric-Holder-June-2013.pdf. U.S. Attorney in Oakland, CA cites my case

The U.S. Attorney in Oakland, CA, responded to NORML’s law suit Tuesday (you know, the one three federal judges have already shredded): http://www.iowamedicalmarijuana.org/States/pdfs/ca_11cv05349_039.pdf The most annoying thing about it is that she attacks me and I have no way of defending myself.  On page 16, she cites Olsen v.
